A civilian Minden Air SP-2H Neptune tanker drops retardant on wildfires in Texas on 19 April 2011. Multiple fires burned more than 1,000 square miles of land across the state in April. US Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard firefighting crews flying C-130s equipped with the Modular Airborne Firefighting System are called in to help the US Forest Service and other agencies contain fires only after civilian tanker operators are fully engaged.
