A C-130J from the 143rd Airlift Wing, the Rhode Island Air National Guard unit based at Quonset Point, was one of the attractions at the biennial Africa Aerospace and Defense Exposition held 21-25 September 2010 at AFB Ysterplaat near Cape Town, South Africa. The Rhode Island Guardsmen, along with seventy members of the New York Army and Air National Guards, participated in the show. A C-5 crew from the 105th AW, the New York Guard unit at Stewart ANGB, delivered an Army National Guard OH-58 Kiowa Scout helicopter and a New York ANG HH-60 Pave Hawk rescue helicopter to the show. The New York National Guard participates in a State Partnership Program with the South African National Defence Force.
