The Sultanate of Oman accepted the first aircraft in a second order of F-16 Fighting Falcons in ceremonies on 3 April 2014 at the Lockheed Martin facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The Advanced Block 50 F-16C, procured under a US Foreign Military Sales program, is scheduled to be ferried to Oman later this year. Oman currently operates Block 50 F-16s that the country purchased in 2002. In addition to the new aircraft, the existing F-16 fleet will be upgraded to provide a common configuration. The new F-16s for Oman include upgraded radars and computers, provisions for additional precision guided weapons, and other systems. This second purchase means Oman now joins fifteen other countries that have ordered additional F-16 jets for their air defense.
