The penultimate C-130J Super Hercules for the 317th Airlift Group at Dyess AFB, Texas, was delivered on 22 May 2013. The aircraft (Air Force serial number 08-5724) was flown from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, to the base in Abilene by Brig. Gen. Scott Goodwin, the Air Mobility Command director of Operations. Goodwin is a command pilot with more than 3,500 flying hours in four types of aircraft, including the C-130 Hercules. This is the twenty-seventh of twenty-eight planned deliveries to Dyess.
