US and Royal Danish Air Force C-130J crews carried out a first-ever joint airdrop over Southern Afghanistan on 25 February 2013. Two previous attempts at a joint airdrop were cancelled. As the result of previous joint training, officials noted that this combat airdrop went smoothly. The US C-130J crew is deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, from the 317th Airlift Group at Dyess AFB, Texas. The Danish crew is deployed from 721 Squadron at Aalborg AB.
