The US Air Force’s 787th Air Expeditionary Squadron, which consists of Airmen and two C-130Js deployed from Dyess AFB, Texas, flew its first mission on 4 November 2014 in support of Operation United Assistance, the mission to fight the Ebola virus in West Africa. The deployed Airmen airlifted more than eight tons of medical equipment, stretchers, blood, bleach, and other supplies on the first sortie into Liberia.
